The Benefits of a Lotion Machine

The Benefits of a Lotion Machine

Lotions are a cosmetic and personal care product that contains emollients, moisturizers, fragrances and other ingredients. They have low viscosity and are applied to the skin with bare hands or a brush.

These lotions are packed in different kinds of round, oval and special shaped bottles with varieties of labels and caps. VKPAK has a wide range of cream filling machine to meet your lotion packaging requirements.

High Shear Bottom Entry Mixers

A batch high shear mixer is a type of equipment that utilizes a compartment vessel with an inlet at one end and the outlet at the opposite end. It operates at a higher power rate than an inline rotor-stator mixer but consumes less electricity to run it. This type of mixer also features a high-speed chopper that can break up wet product clumps and create granules. It is ideal for mixing sticky materials or solutions that would require extensive cleaning if handled manually.

The main advantage of this type of high shear mixer over simple conventional stirrers or agitators is its multistage mixing/shearing action as materials are drawn through the specially designed Silverson workhead – the heart of every machine. As the rotor blades rotate, they exert intense hydraulic shear against the stator, dispersing and projecting material radially into the sides of the mixing tank. Meanwhile, fresh material is simultaneously drawn into the workhead to maintain the mixing cycle.

This process results in a mixture that contains two or more liquids that do not mix naturally, known as an emulsion. It is also possible to emulsify a solid in a liquid, which is called a suspension. In addition to this, these machines can also pulverize or disperse a powder into a liquid. The sanitary series of bottom entry mixers is designed to fit into the bottom or base of a container and used in conjunction with a slow speed anchor stirrer or scraper unit for high viscosity products. All wetted parts are made of stainless steel, making it suitable for a wide range of food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications.

Powder Induction Mixers

If you mix liquids containing powders like sugar syrups, brines and gum thickeners, you know how difficult it can be to wet out these lotion machine ingredients. They tend to float and agglomerate when poured directly into liquids, which increases production time and product waste. This problem can be solved with the right equipment, however.

Traditional eductor-based systems use pumps and eductors to pull in and dissolve the powder. However, balancing the performance of these three pieces of equipment can be challenging. A Ross rotor/stator mixer with powder induction technology (SLIM) can solve the problem by incorporating dry ingredients directly into liquid streams.

This system uses a fast-rotating rotor tip inside of a streamline-shaped stator to create a vacuum within the mixing chamber. The rotor/stator mixer draws in powdered ingredients through an induction hose and a special intake fitting, then disperses the solids into the liquid stream as the rotor rotates, eliminating floating powders and promoting instantaneous mixing.

A SLIM system is available in an inline configuration, meaning it can be incorporated into your existing production line as opposed to replacing the entire mixer vessel. This saves you money, space and provides greater flexibility when it comes to raw material handling and addition. The SLIM can be used in conjunction with an inline agitator or even as a stand-alone mixer, allowing you to roll it to your 5,000 gallon agitated tank for only the powder induction portion of the overall batch cycle.

High Shear Piston Mixers

High shear mixers can reduce mixing times and processing costs as well as increase product quality. This is because they subject the liquids to intense shear energy which can dramatically reduce the size of the droplets allowing them to combine and remain stable. These mixers also have the ability to perform other tasks including emulsification, particle downsizing and granulation.

High Shear Piston Mixers use a rotor-stator principle to shear the products into droplets in a narrow gap between the tip of the rotor and the interior wall of the stator. This equipment can achieve a particle size range between 1- 8 microns with much higher efficiency than traditional mixing methods such as high pressure homogenisers.

Another way these machines improve productivity is by reducing product loss during production. They wet induct ingredients into a stream instantly eliminating fisheyes, while the rotor-stator generates enough shear to cut and disperse solids. The resulting slurry can be a powder, liquid or gel that contains proteins, gums, vitamins, fibers, stabilizers, emulsifiers, sweeteners, colors and more.

The aseptic design of the rotor-stator high shear mixer makes it perfect for sensitive and pharmaceutical applications. In the event of a power failure, the mixer falls into a safe mode, stopping all ongoing tasks and only restarting once power is restored. This prevents mechanical breakdown and almost eliminates product loss.

High Shear Air Pump Mixers

This is a machine that works by continuously breaking down the droplets of a liquid into smaller particles. The particles are then dispersed into a continuous phase of another liquid forming an emulsion. This is especially important in immiscible liquids like oil and water. Since oils are nonpolar, they do not get attracted to water molecules. As such, they tend to naturally separate from the water phase. The high shear mixer prevents this by breaking down the oil before natural separation can occur.

These machines are useful in the cosmetic industry as well as in other industries that require a certain level of homogenization in their products. For example, many cosmetic products contain gummy ingredients that cannot mix naturally. These types of products require the lotion machine use of a high shear mixer to accomplish a variety of processes like emulsification, powder wetting out and reduction in particle size. This ensures that the final product meets the necessary quality standards.

High shear mixers are also used in a variety of industrial applications such as manufacturing paints and inks. They are able to achieve very short mixing times and high levels of process flexibility thanks to their unique configuration. They are also capable of performing a wide range of mixture processes such as homogenization, solubilization, emulsification and powder-liquid mixing. They can even be used in the production of fine granules.
