DC01 Steel Plate
DC01 steel plate is a common cold-rolled low carbon steel. It can be rolled to a much thinner thickness than hot-rolled steel, and it has better ductility.
It is easy to form and weld. It also has good deep drawing and high dimensional accuracy. Pores, marks, dents and slight scratches that do not affect the ability to reshape or adhesion to surface coating are allowed.
Characteristics
DC01 steel plate is a type of cold-rolled low carbon steel. It is rolled to a target thickness under low temperature and has superior properties. It can be welded, galvanized and color coated. Its main characteristics include high forming and drawing performance, low hardness, easy processing, and good ductility. This makes it suitable for stamping applications.
It is also a low-alloy steel grade, meaning it does not have any minimum contents of alloying elements such as aluminum, copper, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, vanadium, and silicon. It is often used for making electrical components and automotive parts because of its good drawing, bending, welding, and forming characteristics.
The surface of the steel is oiled to protect it from corrosion. Usually, the oil has a normal roughness but other textures can be requested. The better side of the surface must be free from defects that can spoil the uniform appearance of a high-quality paint or electrolytic coating and must meet surface quality A. The other sides must conform to surface quality B or at least surface quality A. The steel is supplied with a guarantee that no tensile strain mark occurs on the product within three months of delivery under normal non-naked bag packaging, transportation, handling, and storage conditions. This is subject to inspection and analysis upon request. For more information, please see Data Sheet: Cold Rolled Tolerances (file reference B1.1). This document is available on request.
Applications
DC01 steel plate can be used for a variety of applications. It is commonly used in the automotive industry for making electrical components and household appliances. It also has a number of uses in the construction industry. The low carbon content in this type of steel makes it easy to work with and gives it good ductility.
It can be used in simple forming operations such as bending, DC01 steel plate coining and beading. It is also suitable for deep drawing. It has excellent welding performance and high dimensional accuracy. This type of steel is often coated with black oxide, which helps to reduce reflection and glare from the surface of the part and improve corrosion resistance.
In addition to the aforementioned qualities, DC01 has good forming characteristics and is easy to work with. It is also a low cost option. It is suitable for cold forming and can be painted or galvanized. It is also suitable for direct enamelling using the one-layer / one firing method or for special applications of two-layer / low-distortion enamelling. It is allowed for a limited amount of surface defects that do not influence formability and coating & plating adhesion such as pores, small grooves, slight warts, minor scratches and a slight discoloration. However, one side must be free from any remarkable defect that affects the appearance quality after painting or electrogalvanizing.
Mechanical Properties
DC01 steel plate is an excellent material for manufacturing components that require tight tolerances. Cold rolling allows for a much mild steel coils manufacturers finer surface finish and greater dimensional accuracy, reducing the need for additional machining. This helps to improve the overall quality of finished products and can save manufacturers significant time and money in the long run.
However, working with DC01 can present a number of challenges. One issue is its susceptibility to corrosion, which can cause problems if not properly managed. Additionally, the hardness of this material can pose challenges in cutting and forming operations, requiring specialized equipment and techniques to perform these tasks effectively.
Despite these limitations, DC01 steel plate remains a reliable and versatile material for many industrial applications. By understanding its strengths and weaknesses, manufacturers can better leverage this material to meet the demands of their customers. In addition, by complying with industry standards like ASTM A1008, manufacturers can be confident that the DC01 they buy will be of consistent quality and performance. This will ensure they can confidently use the material in critical applications without fear of failure.
Processing
With good drawing and welding performance and relatively high dimensional accuracy, DC01(St12) cold rolled low carbon steel plates are often used to manufacture various automotive parts. It also has some ductility, enabling it to be formed into simple shapes through bending, coining and beading processing.
The steel is hot-rolled from slabs and cold-rolled by rough rolling mills and finishing mills, cooled and pickled after cold-rolling. It is then subjected to finishing lines (leveling, straightening, cross-cutting or slitting, inspection, weighing, packing and marking).
The finished product is available with a normal surface texture and may be supplied oiled to improve handling and storage conditions. Other surface textures may be available on request.
The finished product is packaged in export standard anti-water paper and plastic, wrapped by iron sheet and strapped with min three strips. It is then stored in a covered warehouse at room temperature. This product guarantees six months free from rust under normal transportation, handling and storage conditions. It must not be exposed to sunlight or other sources of ultraviolet radiation, and should not be soaked in water. For further information, please see the product datasheet.
